I'm down here in Aleppo
praying for the bombs to cease
But my praying isn't working
And there is no hope of peace

Chorus

There's no food upon the table
No shelter from the pain
and the drones keep flying over
And the bombs come down like rain

The deadly weapons keep on dropping
And they don't discriminate
Between the good guys and the bad guys
They just eliminate

Chorus

There's no food upon the table
No shelter from the pain
and the drones keep flying over
And the bombs come down like rain

There are no good guys in this conflict
just bad guys fighting for more power
While the innocent are dying
By the minute, by the hour

Chorus

There's no food upon the table
No shelter from the pain
I can hear the children crying
And the bombs come down like rain

There's no food upon the table
No shelter from the pain
and the children keep on dying
And the bombs come down like rain

There are people dying
There are children crying
The governments lying
It's just no good

There are people hungry
There are people thirsty
There's no fresh water
Too little food

There is much resistance
To the government's rules
It's been this way for years
These people are no fools

They know that change
Will come in time
But they'll do it their way
Not yours or mine

So let's support them on their journey
Let's give what help we can
Let's give them all the help they need
To manage their own land

Let's raise a hand for freedom
Let's raise a hand for peace
Let's support democracy
So the struggle it can cease

But let them do it their way
Don't burden them with rules
They're an ancient civilisation
Not a bunch of bloody fools

They just need our doors to open
So with us, they can interact
They'll figure out their own direction
And investment to attract

So let's support them on their journey
Let's give what help we can
Let's give them all the help they need
To manage their own land

Election Time 2024

7th March 2024

It’s election time folks

Do you know who you want

Has anyone convinced you to choose them

All the info’s on Facebook a source you can trust

They’re all there for you to peruse them

I’ve heard that some candidates tell porky pies

Although I find that hard to believe

They all look so shiny

And smiley and sweet

But maybe I’m being naive

But joking aside it’s important

If we want things to change on the downs

We get eight representatives

Plus one as the mayor

So please don’t vote in any clowns

And remember they’re working for us

not the other way round

Their job is to work on our needs

Not some needs not their needs

But our needs

Not the needs of any one person or particular town

But the needs of everyone on the Southern Downs

So before you tick any boxes

Before you put them in place

Be sure that they know what you want them to do

Because they’re there for 4 years

And that’s a long time to wait

If they weren’t listening to you

Who's the fake?

Soundbite
Talks shite
No insight
Always right
Fake news

Who's the fake?

He's a good friend of mine
She's really smart
You probably like the smell of your fart
But nobody shares your opinion of you
Everyone else has a more pragmatic view

They know you're fake

We thought Regan was a joke
We thought Bush was a joke
But you're the one everybody wants to poke
You've got a bigger button than Kim Jong-un
But it's really hard to tell who's the bigger buffoon

Nuclear war's not fake

140 characters is your max
Because you're not concerned with facts
When you cannot take the heat
Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet
Like the bird brain that you are

How did you get this far?

We will make this country great again
Now that's an idle boast
The whole wide world is laughing at you dude
you're toast, toast, toast, toast, toast

If you were just a danger to yourself
we wouldn't give a shit
But with your hand on the nuclear button
we're alarmed yes just a bit

So go back to reality TV
Although you had no skills in that
It won't result in WW III
And we'll all be glad of that

There's no place for a president
who doesn't take advice
Go back to being a harmless prick
So we don't have to pay the price

There's a bunch of bloody arse holes
On my TV and in my news
They say they're looking after us
But man they make me spew
They feed us lies and propaganda
They talk a lot of bull
I wish they'd all just take a pill
Stop treating us like fools
There's Abbot giving money
To straights but not to gays
To encourage them to marry
And then do things his way
There's the sickly smirking Rudd
Who's strategy's as clear as mud
But you know that he'll spend money
That we simply can't afford
There's not an honest one among them
They're just out for number one
In the guise of looking after us
I wish I had a gun

I'm just glad that I'm a Kiwi
So I don't have to vote
I accept no responsibility
For the outcome of this gravy boat
And my advice to all my Aussie friends
Is that you withhold your vote
On the basis that there is no choice
It's time to sink this boat
So call the Governor General
Ask her to bring these people down
Get rid of all the posers
And run them out of town
Then gather up the best of them
And put them all to work
To do the job they're paid for
And do not let them shirk
We have talent in this country
Let's get it focused on the task
Not on negative politics
That is all I ask

There are people stuck in Nauru
They've been there 5 years now
The people smugglers must have got the message
If not I don't know how

Why don't we let these people go
5 years is enough; don't you think so
To be stuck on an island
In the middle of nowhere
Getting sicker and sicker each day

The Government & Labour can't get it together
They're just waiting for someone to die
But over the Tasman it's a whole different story
The Kiwis say Haere Mai, Haere Mai, Haere Mai

Surely natural justice can now be delivered
They were never meant to be there that long
Surely the Government can review its decision
And accept that they've just got it wrong

The Government & Labour can't get it together
They're just waiting for someone to die
But over the Tasman it's a whole different story
The Kiwis say Haere Mai, Haere Mai, Haere Mai

The PM and Bill Shorten stood up in the House
And apologised to those children the churches abused
And yet they don't seem to see the abuse they're inflicting
And I don't think they can be excused

The Government & Labour can't get it together
They're just waiting for someone to die
But over the Tasman it's a whole different story
The Kiwis say Haere Mai, Haere Mai, Haere

The solution is there for the whole world to see
But our politicians are blind, deaf and dumb
These people on Nauru need to be free
Oh why can't we just let them come?

If New Zealand can take one hundred and fifty
Why can't we take the rest
If Australia believes it's a humane country
It's time to put that belief to the test
I think they've more than earned their freedom,
I'm sure you'll all agree
Let's bring them out of Nauru and Manis
Let them all walk free

Haere Mai Haere Mai
Let's welcome them here
Haere Mai Haere Mai
Let's put an end to their fear

I'm tired of politics instead of government

I'm tired of hate speech instead of constructive dialogue

I'm tired of personalities rather than leaders

I'm tired of the babble of the rabble

I'm tired of acrimony rather than courtesy

I'm tired of Clinton and Trump

I'm tired of Turnbull and Shorten

I'm tired of May and Corbyn

But the problem is that I see no end to this debacle

The challenges are much too big to tackle

There's no will to engage in constructive discussions

And it seems nobody's figured out the likely repercussions

The wounds are too deep and band-aids will not suffice

Major surgery is required, these problems to excise

But all we get are lies, lies, lies

While everybody's searching for their own personal prize

Can we press Control, Alt Delete?

Reboot, press the ejection seat

Or is it too late, have we sealed our fate

Have we finally reached our expiry date?

I'm sitting here in Nauru waiting for a change
I've been waiting here so long
I'm feeling quite deranged
My kids are going crazy

And they just don't understand
Why the lucky country just won't let us land
We fled a cruel regime
We didn't leave home for a break

We're not trying to take advantage
We're not here on the take
We just want the opportunity to bring our kids up strong & healthy
We have no expectation that we'll suddenly be wealthy

My wife got raped last night
My son won't leave the room
They live in fear each waking hour
This place is like a tomb

We understand the policy, the boats they must be stopped
But please Mr Turnbull this stubbornness must be stopped
We don't seek an easy ticket
We don't want a free handout

We will work out fingers to the bone
If from this place we can get out
Australia's built on immigration
That's the hub of who you are

We beg you please just stop this madness
Let us enjoy the southern star
We left one hell to find another
We don't want to stay here anymore

The Australian people want to save us
They want to open up the door
All we want is just a fair go
That's the Australian way
Detention's not the answer
Change your mind and let us stay

History teaches us nothing
We keep making the same mistakes
Only the names get changed
But we still get conned by the fakes

People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians keep lying
Nothing ever changes

It used to be Jews that were punished
Now it's Mexicans and those from a bit further south
But it's still the same mindless rhetoric
Coming out of an evil man's mouth

People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians keep lying
Nothing ever changes

The trumpster misuses emergency powers
So he can build the wall that he's set on
But the people are beginning to see through the veneer
Regretting that he's the one they bet on

People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians keep lying
Nothing ever changes

But Trump's not the only danger
Australia's got no reason to smile
We're not even sure who our government is
As we watch them fuck up in style

People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians keep lying
Nothing ever changes

And the UK's becoming a basket case
As the exit from Europe grows closer
And they don't have a plan and they don't have a clue
Politicians, an inept bunch of posers

So let's make a difference
don't let history repeat
Let's toss out the tossers
so the children don't weep

Let's send them a message
Let's make it quite clear
We want inclusion and love
Not division and fear

So wherever you are send your leaders a message
Say it loud and say it clear
No more senseless dying
Nor more children crying
We refuse to live in fear

Yes, send your leaders a message
Make sure they know the score
Tell them you're sick of their lying
They must learn from what's gone before
Everything must change
Everything must change

Why do our elected politicians
Never do what they're paid to do
Instead of squabbling like children
They should be looking after me and you
Mrs Gillard with her nose up in the air
And Tony Abbot who doesn't really care
They're just looking after number one
Once their electoral seat has been won
They just thumb their noses at the folks who put them there
It's clear that for our opinions they just don't care
If we'd employed them in our business we'd have sacked them all by now
But we have no choice - that's the rules we have to keep them anyhow
They get three years to stuff around and make a mess
Before we get a chance to send them packing for their cockiness
But even then we just get more of the same
Because all these politicians play the same bloody game
I've not encountered one who earned their pay
And did what they said they'd do on Election Day
Is there not a better system where they can all work for the common good
To make the country better and earn our livelihood
If we put them on performance pay
Their pensions would be zip
They'd have to get results
if from the trough they want to sip
I suspect they might change their behaviour
If the current system wasn't their saviour
If every time they lied and cheated
Their pension fund was depleted
But I guess it's not going to happen
As long as they're in charge
They're not about to change a system
Though their brains ain't over large
They'll stick with the status quo
It's worked for many years
Even though they know it's wrong
They're not shedding any tears
They're looking after number one
Just like they always do
They really don't give a shit
Even when the country's in the poo
So I guess we'll just keep voting
In a system that doesn't work
And see nothing ever happen
While the politicians smirk

Put Out The Fire

Put Out The Fire

Wake up wake up

There's a fire in your house

It will engulf you

And destroy everything you have worked so hard to build

And we your neighbours feel we will be engulfed by the pall of smoke that will hang over your land like a mushroom cloud spreading its destruction far and wide and for years to come

We are not immune from this stupidity

We have waited patiently for you to wake up and feel the flames lick around your feet

But you appear drugged and will not come to your senses

You have allowed this madness to continue far too long

You have allowed a man with nothing to contribute to our society to dominate the airwaves with his hate speech

You have been fooled and have convinced yourself that he speaks the truth and simply says what others are thinking

But he feeds upon your fears

He pitches his arguments to the red necks and the non-thinkers

But be careful America because there are enough of them to ensure his success and they are not apathetic - they will vote

You have assumed that his progress will be halted and that he will not be successful

but apathy never won a battle and intelligence is not a prerequisite for power

and so this evil builds momentum and still, you do nothing to stop it

This man will not have the respect a US president needs to lead

He cannot be given responsibility for the future of our civilisation

He has not earned the right to sit at the table

He will be an embarrassment

You need to wake up and extinguish this fire before it's too late

The world is watching and your right to speak on behalf of the free world diminishes with every day you delay

9/11 was a tragedy for the American people but it could not have been reasonably anticipated

This will be a tragedy for the world and there can be no excuses for allowing it to happen

You must dump Trump

Send him packing with a clear message that he does not speak for the majority

Put out this fire NOW before it destroys us all

The Killing Fields

Why do the children always face the killing fields
Why do the power brokers always use them as their shields
Why can't they grow up to have long and peaceful lives
Why can't they grow up to be husbands, fathers, mothers, wives

There are children dying
There are babies crying
There are politicians lying
About what they can and cannot do

There are people starving
Yet there's food being wasted
In every house in the developed world
The solution's simple
Just divert the money
That we waste on useless things

Stop spending money on weapons of war
Stop fighting over things that don't matter
Stop trying to make others do what you want
Treat everyone like your sister and brother

We've been on this earth for thousands of years
But it seems that we've not learned a thing
We're still grabbing and pushing people around
In London, Baghdad, New York and Beijing

And the haves all want more
The have-nots know the score
They know nothing will change
Life's just a firing range
Where the targets are live
And they cannot survive
As long as the haves still want more

And politicians pretend to work on solutions
To achieve the goals that they've set
But the haves won't give up
The lives that they've got
So some people in places that they've never seen
Can have food and clean water
And all the things we take for granted

So the meetings to fix things
Get diverted or supplanted
By other things that are easier to address
And the people that are dying
Have to listen to the lying
Knowing that there's little chance of success

While Facebook's full of ice bucket challenges to promote the horror of ALS
The rest of the world's drinking dirty water and dying in their beds
But we never hear of this
It never hits the press
I guess the advertisers don't want their customers to feel depressed

If the media reported every death
that happened every day
Not just the ones of famous people
I wonder what we'd say
Would we question why it happened
Would it change the way we feel
Would we put pressure on our leaders
To stop this horrible ordeal

To take the money spent on weapons
And divert it to research
To create the kind of world for everyone
That we want for ourselves

So that children everywhere no matter what their colour or their creed
Could wake up every morning
knowing they would at least get to eat
And that this day might signal change
and not just make them obsolete

The government's wrong
The government's wrong
They'll never solve the problem
By singing Uncle Sam's song

They're playing on our fears
So they can grab more power
Creating hatred in the guise of protecting us
As our freedom they devour

There's 1.6 billion Muslims is what I'm saying
Do they seriously believe
that all the bad guys are in the minarets
and the good guys are in their Christian churches praying

This Government is using a sledgehammer
To try and crack a pebble
Creating unjust laws that don't make sense
And make everyone a rebel

These laws you make in our name
To protect us from terrorists are just a bloody game
They're about control and power and creating fear
About the honest Moslems whose name you try to smear

You say if I'm not doing anything wrong
I don't need to be afraid
But when you make laws like these
Things take on a different shade

You say if I'm not doing anything wrong
I don't have to be afraid
but when your black's my white
trust me I feel afraid

When some nameless public servant
can look at what I do
and decide that I'm a terrorist
Then I'm afraid I don't trust you

First Qld brought in the bikie laws
to crack down on gangs they said
But everyone who wears a leather jacket now
Has cause to be afraid

We're creating a culture
Of hatred and fear
About a whole lot of people
Both overseas and here

Let's focus our efforts
On solving the problem
Which is a bunch of bad guys
Not your ordinary Moslem

The direction you're taking
Will bring out the fascists
Who don't need an excuse
To generate abuse
