I was born in Bathgate, a small town in Scotland midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I moved to New Zealand in 1980 and became a Kiwi and I'm known by some as Kiwi Ben. However I'm still proud to be a Scot and hold dear to my Scottish heritage. I moved to Brisbane in 2005 and this is where I now call home, but home to me is where I am and I don't feel the need for any particular boundaries or borders. I've always been happy wherever I was - it's a state of mind and I firmly believe that life is about the journey not the destination. I live in the present and thank each day for what it brings.
I tried my hand at song writing as a teenager and had some modest success with some of my songs being played at the local dance hall which was quite a buzz. I got out of writing for a long time as other things took my time but have got back into it in recent years and now inspired by Cath, my muse, I really enjoy the creative process.
I write about love and about other things that stir my passion. I write for myself and Cath but happy to share my efforts with a wider audience. Some are whimsical and some are about things I observe as I travel through this life. Some are very personal but that's OK. I don't take myself too seriously but I'm at an age where it's important to do what brings me pleasure. I live a simple life and if I can bring a smile to someone's face I reckon I had a good day and good days are what I have.
If you like what I write, I'm happy, but if you don't that's OK as well because I write for pleasure and nothing more. There are many better writers out there but if my words stir something in you or just make you smile then they were worth sharing.
Take care and keep smiling - you know it makes sense. :-)
